Dec 19, 2016  remove write protection from files - happened when upgrading to windows 10 Just upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10. All my files have become write protected in the upgrade - how do i remove this write protection so i can continue to work on files and re save them? Jun 07, 2018 Hey guys, I'm having trouble with 'Spectrasonics - Omnisphere 2' when I move the library to an external hardrive. After a long search for solutions on the internet was quite easy just change the permissions folder and all. See picture fix it. I am trying to delete my steam files for a clean re-install of all my games and files. I cannot however delete the files as it says 'You'll need to provide administrator permission to remove'. Does anyone know how to work around this? I am the admin on my computer, why don't I already have access?

Such permissions are inherited from the folder in which the file/folder is stored, and not set explicitly. To break the inheritance chain, you have to, in the Security Tab, click ‘Advanced’ in the ‘Advanced Security Settings’ box, then click Edit and finally clear ‘Include Inheritable Permissions From Objects Parent’. Jul 29, 2014  The STEAM folder does not have write permission. Locate STEAM folder in the Finder. Select the 'Get Info' option. Set your privilege to 'Read & write'. Repeat for all subfolders. I don't get this, I haven't changed anything regarding permissions and they are already set to read/write.
